My entire life has been filled with moment after moment of nerve-wracking situations in which I feel I’m the last person who should be doing what I’m doing. There have been times when I’ve felt too young, too inexperienced, too tall, too shy, too self-conscious, too uneducated, less than, and not as good as.
If only I had a bigger personality, more followers, a better story to tell, better fashion sense, a consistent exercise routine... then maybe I’d be qualified. Then maybe I’d feel like I wasn’t trying to imitate what I’ve already seen.

As a photographer, I’m constantly torn between the desire to capture what’s happening around me and simply living in the moment. Sometimes this means I leave my camera at home, but I still use my phone to capture things quickly. Photographer or not, these days we all want to document what we are doing. This isn’t a bad thing! Our generation has a negative stereotype for constantly taking photos; of ourselves, what we’re eating, who we are with, and the places we go. It’s wonderful to have a visual reminder of these things, but it can easily become too much. I believe there’s a fine line between documenting life and becoming consumed with how many likes or comments we receive on our posts. If you didn’t share it, did it happen?
